Dangling hummingbird-design earrings (type/model VE461), sold in a transparent plastic bag and made in the People’s Republic of China, are affected. They were recalled because the nickel release is too high (measured up to 0.37 µg/cm2/week) and they contain excessive cadmium (75.8% by weight); nickel can cause allergic reactions on skin contact and cadmium can accumulate in the body, damage kidneys and bones and may cause cancer. The importer has voluntarily withdrawn the product from the market and recalled it from consumers.
