Easee One EV Charger Backplate BP-AP-1/s01-01 safety warning

The Easee One EV Charger Backplate (model BP-AP-1/s01-01) sold in the UK between late September 2025 and 3 February 2026 is affected; the PME terminal on some backplates is incorrectly labelled “L3”, identifiable by that mislabel. The incorrect labelling can cause the PME conductor to be connected to the standard PE terminal and bypass the charger’s PEN fault detection and automatic disconnection; Easee has a modification programme—charging may be paused for confirmed miswired units and corrective actions include inspection, backplate replacement and verification by a qualified electrician.

Product Description: The Easee One Backplate (BP-AP-1/s01-01) is a wall-mounted wiring base for the Easee One EV charger. How to identify it

PSD notification number: 2604-0019

Notified by: Office for Product Safety and Standards

The hazard

The affected units have been fitted with an incorrect three‑phase terminal label. Specifically, the terminal that should be clearly marked as “PME” (Protective Multiple Earthing) is incorrectly labelled as “L3”, which may mislead installers during installation. This incorrect labelling could cause an electrician to connect the PME conductor to the standard PE terminal instead of the dedicated PME terminal, potentially bypassing the charger’s built‑in PEN fault detection and automatic disconnection function required for UK PME installations.

What to do

Modification programme.

Easee have identified affected products using serial number traceability and installer records. Where a mislabelled unit is confirmed to be incorrectly wired and without external PEN protection, charging is temporarily paused until remediation is completed. Where required, corrective actions include inspection, replacement of the backplate and verification by a qualified electrician.
