Nûby IcyBite™ Keys Teethers (item number 530455, UPC 067988 53045 5) with embossed lot number ED04Z on the back of the packaging and on the toy ring are affected. They were recalled because sampling found the liquid filling contaminated with the bacteria Fictibactillius arsenicus and Metabacillus idriensis, and fillings must not contain living microorganisms; these bacteria may cause infection if the teether is punctured and the liquid ingested. Consumers should immediately stop using the teethers and contact EI Brand Management Inc. and register on their website for a free replacement.

The hazard

Under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, teether fillings must not contain any living microorganisms. These bacteria are usually harmless, but may cause an infection in children if the teether is punctured and the liquid filling is ingested.

As of January 21, 2026, the company has received no report(s) of incidents or injuries in Canada.
