2018 328D SportsWagon and other models recall: Coolant leak inside EGR module may cause fire

2018 328D SportsWagon, 328D xDrive SportsWagon, 328D xDrive, and 328D diesel vehicles equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) module with an integrated cooler are affected; check your vehicle model and whether it has an EGR module with an integrated cooler. The EGR cooler may leak internally, allowing coolant to mix with diesel soot and potentially cause smoldering particles and a melting intake manifold, increasing the risk of fire. Dealers will replace the EGR cooler, inspect and replace the intake manifold if necessary, and clean the EGR pipe free of charge; owner letters and VIN lookup on NHTSA.gov are expected December 5, 2025, and owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417.
