How to convert cups to grams
A cup measures volume and a gram measures weight, so every ingredient converts differently. A reference table, and a faster way to convert a whole recipe.
Scale a recipe up or down and convert between cups, grams and ounces as you go.
Paste the list, one ingredient per line.
* No weight on file for this ingredient, so it's shown in millilitres.
Paste in a recipe, choose how many people you’re feeding, and Batch rewrites the ingredient list with the new amounts.
It knows that a cup of flour and a cup of sugar don’t weigh the same, so it can switch volumes to weights for common baking ingredients, which is how you get the same cake twice.
Batch reads the amount and unit at the start of each line, including fractions like 1 ½ and ranges like 2–3, and multiplies them. Lines without an amount, like “salt to taste”, are left alone.
Weights use typical grams per cup for about 40 common ingredients: flour 125 g, sugar 200 g, butter 227 g and so on. Anything without a known weight is shown in millilitres.
Awkward amounts are rounded to measures you can actually use: 2⅔ tablespoons, not 2.6667.
