Print Labels from a Spreadsheet

Paste rows from a spreadsheet, pick your label sheet and download a PDF that lines up with it: every row becomes a label.

How to print labels from a spreadsheet

  1. Copy the rows from Excel or Google Sheets, heading row included, and paste them in. Or open a CSV or .xlsx file.
  2. Pick your label sheet by its product code, such as 5160 or L7160. The layout fills itself in from your column names; edit it, or click a field to add it.
  3. Click any labels already used on your sheet, then download the PDF and print it at Actual size (100%).

Good to know

Each row of your list fills one label. Fields in curly brackets, like {Name}, take the value from that column, a line whose fields are all empty is left out, and long text shrinks to fit. Add a QR code or barcode from any column.

Questions

Do I need Word or Avery Design & Print?

No. This is a label mail merge in your browser: paste your list, choose the sheet and download a PDF. There's nothing to install and no account.

Is my list uploaded?

No. Your rows are read and the PDF is made in your browser, so names and addresses never leave your computer. They're remembered in this browser until you clear them.

My labels print slightly off. How do I fix it?

First make sure the print dialog says Actual size or 100%, not Fit to page. Then print the alignment test on plain paper and hold it against a label sheet up to the light. If every label is off the same way, move the content with Nudge; it's remembered for next time.

Can I use a sheet that's already partly used?

Yes. Click the labels that are gone in the preview, or enter how many are used, and printing starts at the next free label.

Is LabAnvil affiliated with Avery?

No. Avery is a trademark of Avery Products Corporation. Sheets are listed by their product codes so you can find yours, and any sheet with the same layout works just as well.

Label sheets it prints on

Find your sheet by the product code on the packet. Sheets in the same row share one layout, so any of them prints the same way. Not listed? Choose Custom sheet and enter the sizes from the packet.

About

A label mail merge that runs in your browser. Paste rows from a spreadsheet or open a CSV or Excel file, and every row becomes a label: mailing addresses, product and asset tags, name badges, or anything else you keep in a list.

Pick the sheet you bought by its product code, from Avery 5160 address labels to A4 L7160 and thermal 4 × 6 in shipping labels, and the PDF lines up with it. Partly used sheet? Click the labels that are gone and printing starts at the next free one.

How it works

  • Fields from your columns. Put {Name}, {City} or any heading on the label. A line whose fields are empty is left out, so there are no gaps where an address has no second line.
  • Text that fits. Long lines shrink, then wrap, to stay on the label, and the preview warns about anything that still doesn’t fit.
  • QR codes and barcodes. Add a QR code or a Code 128 barcode from any column, sized in whole printer dots so it scans.
  • Sheets that line up. 29 layouts for US Letter, A4 and label printers, or enter your own. An alignment test and a nudge setting fix printers that print slightly off.
  • Private. Your list is read and the PDF is made on your device; nothing is uploaded.

Notes

Print at Actual size or 100%, not Fit to page. Avery is a trademark of Avery Products Corporation; LabAnvil isn’t affiliated with Avery. Sheet layouts are from the manufacturers’ published sizes and the gLabels template database.
