Questions

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so drafts, notes and documents stay on your device, and the tools keep working offline once the page has loaded.

Do I need an account?

No. Every Markdown tool is free to use without signing in, with no limits.

What is Markdown?

A plain-text way to format writing: # for a heading, **bold**, - for a list item and so on. README files, GitHub, Reddit, Discord, Notion and many note apps use it, and it converts cleanly to HTML and PDF.

Which flavour of Markdown do the tools use?

GitHub Flavored Markdown, the most widely used, with tables, task lists, footnotes and GitHub’s alert boxes. A file that looks right here looks the same on GitHub.

About

Everything for writing and converting Markdown, in one place: write with a live preview in the Markdown Editor, present a slide deck written in Markdown, start a project’s README from a form, read .md files in the viewer, turn documents into PDFs, Word files and web pages, convert Word documents, HTML and text copied from Google Docs into Markdown, and build tables in a grid or straight from a spreadsheet. Then tidy it all up: format with Prettier, check it with markdownlint, add a table of contents, or strip it back to plain text. And take it elsewhere: Slack and Discord messages, Jira and Confluence wiki markup, and forum BBCode.

Nothing you write is uploaded. Every tool runs in your browser, the editor keeps your documents on your device, and share links carry the document inside the link itself. No account, no limits.

How it works

  • GitHub Flavored Markdown. Tables, task lists, footnotes, emoji shortcodes and GitHub’s [!NOTE] alerts look the way GitHub shows them, and heading links match GitHub’s.
  • Safe previews. Raw HTML in a document is allowed but cleaned first, so scripts and event handlers never run.
  • PDFs from your browser’s print engine. Text stays selectable, links work and every language prints correctly, with the page size, margins and page numbers you choose.
  • Real Word documents. Headings use Word’s own heading styles, and lists, tables, footnotes and images come across both ways.
  • Smart pasting. Formatted text from web pages, Google Docs and Word arrives as Markdown, with bold, links, lists and tables intact.

Notes

The Markdown Editor keeps documents in your browser’s storage, so they stay on this device and are deleted if you clear this site’s data; download a .md file to keep a copy elsewhere. Page numbers in PDFs need Chrome or Edge. Word to Markdown reads .docx files, not the older .doc format.
