Blue Bird Bus recall: high voltage (Transport Canada 2026475)

How to identify it

2024.0 | BLUE BIRD | VISION NON-SCHOOL BUS

The hazard

On one electric bus, the bolts that secure the high-voltage battery may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolts could loosen or break and cause the high-voltage battery to separate from the bus. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels.

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A bus that is disabled could result in a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury. Additionally, a high-voltage battery that detaches from the bus could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

What to do

Blue Bird will notify the owner by mail and provide them with instructions for how to inspect and, if necessary, tighten or replace the mounting bolts for the high-voltage battery. The service manual will also be updated to specify how to properly tighten the bolts and the recommended service for them.
