Custom-made Zebra blinds (dual-layer shades with alternating sheer and solid fabric bands operated by a cord and cord shield) and Roller blinds (flat fabric panel with a continuous loop chain) sold by SoHo Blinds Inc. are affected. Health Canada determined the Zebra blinds’ cords do not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations and pose a strangulation hazard, and the Roller blinds can release small parts that present a choking hazard to young children. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact SoHo Blinds Inc.

How to identify it

This recall involves Zebra blinds and Roller blinds custom made by SoHo Blinds. The Zebra blinds are a dual layer shade that have a striped pattern using sheer and solid fabric bands. They are equipped with a cord and cord shield that operates to lift/lower the blinds. The Roller blinds feature a flat fabric panel that rolls up or down and is equipped with a continuous loop chain.

The hazard

Health Canada has determined that the recalled Zebra blinds do not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations and pose a strangulation hazard. Young children may pull looped cords around their neck, or become entangled in the cords, causing a strangulation hazard and even death.

Health Canada has determined that the Roller blinds release small parts that present a choking hazard to young children.

Health Canada recommends cordless window coverings. For more information on the hazard, see Blind Cord Safety.

As of April 20, 2026, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
