2021–2027 Western Star 49X and 47X trucks are affected; owners can recognise them by the model name and model years. The frame stud that connects the battery and/or auxiliary power distribution to the starter may not have been installed properly, which can cause a short circuit, overheating or melting of wiring and a risk of fire; previous repairs under recall F1020 may not be effective, so a second repair is required. Daimler Truck North America will notify owners by mail and advise taking the truck to a DTNA authorized service facility to remove the stud and relocate the jump-start connection.

The hazard
On certain trucks, the recall repairs completed by a Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) dealer during recall F1020 (Transport Canada recall no. 2025-269) may not be effective. As a result, a second repair is required.
On certain trucks, the stud on the frame that connects the battery and/or auxiliary power distribution to the starter may not have been installed properly. As a result, there could be a short circuit, and the wiring could overheat and melt.
Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2025-269. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.
A short circuit and/or wiring that overheats and melts can create the risk of a fire.
What to do
Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility to remove the stud and relocate the jump start connection.
