2025 Ram 5500 and 2500 and other models recall: airbag

2025 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks (including certain 3500/4500/5500 chassis cab incomplete vehicles) are affected; identify by model year 2025 and the RAM brand. A software problem could cause the occupant restraint controller (ORC) to turn off while driving, disabling the airbags, seat belt pretensioners and electronic stability control and causing the airbag, ABS and seat belt reminder lights to display. FCA Canada will notify owners to take their vehicle to a dealership to update the ORC module software.

The hazard

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the occupant restraint controller (ORC) module to turn off while driving. If this happens, the airbags, seat belt pretensioners, and electronic stability control (ESC) system would not work.

Note: This problem would cause the airbag warning light, antilock braking system (ABS) light, and seat belt reminder light to display. This recall also affects certain RAM 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cab incomplete vehicles.

Airbags and seat belt pretensioners that don't work could increase the risk of injury in a crash. An electronic stability control system that doesn't work could increase the risk of a crash.

What to do

FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the occupant restraint controller (ORC) module software.
