2026 Ford Mustang vehicles equipped with a 2.3 L engine are affected and can be identified by model year and engine size. The circlips that secure the pistons to the connecting rods may be missing or improperly installed, which could damage pistons and cause engine failure with a loss of power to the wheels, increasing crash risk. None of the affected vehicles have been delivered to customers; Ford will instruct dealers to inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine before each vehicle is delivered.
