2022–2025 Ford E‑TRANSIT Chassis Cab vehicles are affected; owners can identify them by model and model years listed. Ford recalled these vehicles because the left‑rear axle shaft may not have been installed properly, allowing spline wear that can cause loss of power to the wheels and, if parked without the parking brake applied, possible roll‑away; Ford will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the left‑rear axle shaft and inspect/replace primary drive unit components.
How to identify it
2022–2025 Ford E-TRANSIT
The hazard
On certain vehicles, the left-rear axle shaft may not have been installed properly. As a result, the axle shaft splines could wear. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, if the vehicle is parked and the parking brake isn't applied, the vehicle could roll away.
Note: This recall also affects certain incomplete vehicles.
A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash.
What to do
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the left-rear axle shaft. If the axle shaft requires replacement, the dealer will also inspect and, as necessary, replace primary drive unit components.
