2018–2020 Ford F-150 pickup trucks are affected; they can be identified if the daytime running lamps (DRLs) remain on when the master lighting switch is moved from the “Autolamp” position to the “headlamp on” position. A software problem, and in some trucks a prior recall repair that may not have been done correctly, can cause the DRLs to stay on, creating glare for oncoming drivers and increasing crash risk. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise taking the truck to a dealership to update the body control module software.
How to identify it
2018–2020 Ford F-150
The hazard
On certain trucks, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 20C03 (Transport Canada recall no. 2020-071) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required.
On certain trucks, a software problem could cause the daytime running lamps (DRLs) to remain on when switching the master lighting switch from the ''Autolamp'' position to the ''headlamp on'' position. Canadian regulations require the DRLs to turn off when the headlamps are switched on.
Daytime running lamps that stay on could cause glare for oncoming drivers and increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to update the body control module software.
