2020–2021 Ford Escape SUVs and 2021 Ford Bronco vehicles are included; vehicles with an electronic brake booster (EBB) are not affected. They were recalled because certain vehicles may not meet Canada’s minimum stopping requirements and could have extended stopping distance if there is a loss of power brake assist; Ford will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to replace the front brake pads. Vehicles repaired under Transport Canada recall no. 2021‑727 do not require this repair.
How to identify it
2020–2021 Ford ESCAPE
2021 Ford BRONCO
The hazard
Certain vehicles may not meet the minimum stopping requirements of Canadian regulations. In particular, the vehicle may have an extended stopping distance if there is a loss of power brake assist.
Note: This recall does not affect vehicles with an electronic brake booster (EBB). This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2021-727. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall don't require this repair.
Reduced braking could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the front brake pads.
