2023–2025 Ford Mustang Mach‑E SUVs are affected if the battery energy control module (BECM) was replaced during service. The replacement BECM may not have been programmed correctly, which can cause the state of charge to display incorrectly, potentially leading to an unexpected loss of power to the wheels and to high‑voltage battery overheating after repeated fast charging, creating a fire risk. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to update the BECM software.
How to identify it
2023–2025 Ford MUSTANG MACH-E
The hazard
This recall is for certain vehicles that had a battery energy control module (BECM) replaced during service.
On certain vehicles, the replacement battery energy control module may not have been programmed correctly. As a result, the state of charge could display incorrectly, so a person may not recognize the low state of charge, which could cause a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, this could lead to the high-voltage battery overheating after repeated fast charging.
A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A battery that overheats can create a fire risk.
What to do
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the battery energy control module software.
