2021–2025 Ford BRONCO SUVs are affected. Certain vehicles may have had the transmission reassembled improperly after service, allowing the transmission output shaft splines and/or transfer case input splines to wear and fail, which can cause a loss of power to the wheels or allow a parked vehicle to roll. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the transmission and transfer case.
How to identify it
2021–2025 Ford BRONCO
The hazard
On certain vehicles, the transmission may not have been reassembled properly after service. As a result, the transmission output shaft splines and/or the transfer case input splines could wear and fail. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels, or the vehicle could move when it's parked and the parking brake isn't used.
A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash.
What to do
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the transmission and transfer case.
