2020 Lincoln AVIATOR and 2020–2021 Lincoln CORSAIR SUVs equipped with a Revel audio system are affected; on some vehicles a prior recall repair (Ford recall 25C18) may not have been done correctly and the seat belt reminder chime may not sound long enough when the vehicle is started and the driver’s seat belt is unbuckled. Because the warning may not meet Canadian requirements and might not remind you to buckle, Ford will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to update the audio control module software.
How to identify it
2020 Lincoln AVIATOR
2020–2021 Lincoln CORSAIR
The hazard
On a small number of vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 25C18 (Transport Canada recall no. 2025-277) may not have been done correctly. As a result, another repair is required.
On certain vehicles, the seat belt reminder chime may not sound for long enough when you start the vehicle, and your seat belt is not buckled. Canadian regulations require both a seat belt reminder sound and visual telltale when a driver is not wearing their seat belt.
Note: This recall only affects vehicles with a Revel audio system.
A seat belt warning that doesn't work correctly may not remind you to buckle your seat belt. Not wearing your seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
What to do
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the audio control module software.
