2026 Honda PILOT and 2026 Honda PASSPORT SUVs are affected; identify them by model year and name. They were recalled because rear subframe bolt(s) may not have been tightened properly, which could allow the bolt(s) to loosen and the rear subframe to detach, causing poor handling, loss of vehicle control, and a road hazard. Honda will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace and/or tighten the rear subframe bolt(s).
How to identify it
2026 Honda PILOT
2026 Honda PASSPORT
The hazard
On certain vehicles, the rear subframe bolt(s) may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolt(s) could loosen and the rear subframe could detach. This could lead to poor handling and a loss of vehicle control.
Poor handling and a loss of control can create the risk of a crash. A rear subframe that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace and/or tighten the rear subframe bolt(s).
