The hazard
On certain trucks, the circuit board (PCB) insulation could become damaged and cause a short circuit.
A short circuit could increase the risk of a fire, even while the truck is parked and turned off.
What to do
To reduce the safety risk, Kalmar advises that you should park your truck outside and away from other vehicles or buildings until the recall repairs are completed. Kalmar also recommends that when the truck is not in use, if the truck has a battery disconnect switch, it should be locked to the off position. If the truck doesn't have a switch, the negative cables should be disconnected from the low voltage batteries. Kalmar will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to add a ground stud to correct the wiring and install a 5 A inline fuse to protect the PCB.
