2024–2026 Kawasaki NINJA ZX-6R recall: engine

2024–2026 Kawasaki NINJA ZX-6R motorcycles are affected; owners can identify them by model name and model years. Kawasaki recalled them because some crankshaft bolts may have been over‑tightened, potentially damaging a crankshaft bushing and causing the engine to stall and a sudden loss of power. Kawasaki advises not to ride until repairs are completed; owners will be notified by mail and asked to take their motorcycle to a dealer to have the crankshaft bolts and bearing inspected, with bolts retightened and parts or the engine repaired or replaced as needed.

How to identify it

2024–2026 Kawasaki NINJA ZX-6R

The hazard

On certain motorcycles, the recall repairs completed by a Kawasaki dealer during Transport Canada recall no. 2025-335 may not be effective. As a result, another repair is required.

On certain motorcycles, the crankshaft bolts may have been over-tightened during production. As a result, a crankshaft bushing could become damaged. If this happens, the engine could stall while driving.

Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2025-335. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.

A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash.

What to do

To reduce the safety risk, Kawasaki advises not to ride your motorcycle until the recall repairs are completed. Kawasaki will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect the crankshaft bolts and bearing. The dealer will tighten the crankshaft bolts correctly and repair or replace parts and/or the engine, as necessary.
