Kia is recalling 2023–2025 SPORTAGE SUVs in Canada equipped with a 4.2‑inch screen and a Genuine Kia tow hitch harness because the tow hitch harness control module software could cause the instrument cluster to reboot while driving, preventing display of the speedometer, warnings and tell‑tales and increasing crash risk. Kia will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the tow hitch harness control module.
How to identify it
2023–2025 Kia SPORTAGE
The hazard
On certain vehicles, the tow hitch harness control module software could cause the instrument cluster to reboot while driving. If this happens, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the speedometer, warnings, and tell-tales.
Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 4.2-in screen and a Genuine Kia tow hitch harness.
Warnings, tell-tales and gauges that don't display could increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the tow hitch harness control module.
