2018–2020 Mercedes‑Benz S‑Class and E‑Class vehicles are affected; you can recognize them by model and year. They were recalled because the driveshaft may not have been manufactured properly and could wear so the universal joint could break, potentially causing a loss of power to the wheels and increasing the risk of a crash. Mercedes‑Benz will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the driveshaft.
