2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE CLASS and GLS CLASS recall: airbag

2026 Mercedes‑Benz GLE Class and GLS Class SUVs are affected; they can be recognised by the 2026 model year and these model names. They were recalled because the wrong fabric may have been used for the passenger‑front airbag cushion, which may prevent proper inflation and could increase the risk of injury. Mercedes‑Benz recommends you do not transport a passenger in the front seat until repairs are completed and will notify owners by mail to take the vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger‑front airbag.

The hazard

On certain vehicles, the wrong fabric may have been used for the passenger-front airbag cushion. As a result, the passenger-front airbag may not inflate properly in a crash.

An airbag that does not inflate properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

What to do

To reduce the safety risk, Mercedes-Benz recommends that you shouldn't transport a passenger in the front passenger seat until the recall repairs have been completed.

Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag.
