2024–2026 Micro Bird G5 commercial buses and 2025 Micro Bird CT‑Series commercial buses by Micro Bird are affected, identified by those model names and years. The wheelchair tie-down retractors may not lock automatically, which could allow a wheelchair to move in a crash and increase the risk of injury. Micro Bird advises owners to confirm the wheelchair is secured by attempting to move it before driving until repairs are completed and will notify owners by mail to take the bus to a dealership for inspection and, if necessary, retractor replacement.
How to identify it
2024–2026 Micro Bird G5 COMMERCIAL BUS
2025 Micro Bird CT-SERIES COMMERCIAL BUS
The hazard
On a small number of buses, the wheelchair tie-down retractors may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the retractor(s) may not lock automatically. If this happens, the wheelchair may not be secured correctly and could move in a crash.
A wheelchair that moves in a crash could increase the risk of injury.
What to do
To reduce the safety risk, Micro Bird recommends you confirm the wheelchair is secured properly by attempting to move it before driving until the recall repairs have been completed. Micro Bird will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your bus to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the wheelchair retractor(s).
