2022–2026 Nova Bus LFS and 2023–2026 Nova Bus LFS ARTIC transit buses (and the same engine coolant level sensor sold as a replacement part) are affected. The engine coolant level sensor may falsely detect a low coolant level, causing the engine to shut down and a loss of power to the wheels, increasing crash and injury risk; Nova Bus will notify owners by mail with instructions to inspect and, if necessary, replace the sensor.
How to identify it
2022–2026 Nova Bus LFS
2023–2026 Nova Bus LFS ARTIC
The hazard
This recall is for engine coolant level sensors installed on certain transit buses or sold as a replacement part.
On certain transit buses, the engine coolant level sensor may be defective and could falsely detect a low level of coolant. If this happens, the engine could shut down and cause a loss of power to the wheels.
Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2025-513. Buses that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.
A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A bus that is disabled could result in a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury.
What to do
Nova Bus will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine coolant level sensor.
