Pierce fire trucks — 2015–2026 IMPEL, ENFORCER, ARROW XT and VELOCITY models equipped with a single rear axle — are affected. A software problem can cause the firm-on-ground system light to remain on after the rear stabilizer loses contact with the ground following auto-leveling, which could allow the truck to shift while the aerial device is in use and create a risk of injury. Pierce will notify owners by mail with instructions to update the vehicle software and perform an aerial device functionality check, or to schedule the software update at a Pierce dealership.

The hazard
Under certain conditions after the fire truck has been auto-leveled, a software problem could cause the firm-on-ground system light to remain on after the rear stabilizer loses contact with the ground. As a result, the fire truck could shift when the aerial device is being used.
Note: This recall only affects certain fire trucks equipped with a single rear axle.
A fire truck that shifts while the aerial device is being used could create a risk of injury.
What to do
Pierce will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to update the vehicle software and perform an aerial device functionality check. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the software update performed at a Pierce dealership.
