Refrigerators made by TAIWAN SANYO ELECTRIC CO., LTD. (Made in Chinese Taipei), affecting 56,399 units, are included in the recall. Condensation at the PCB terminal area could lead to PCB carbonization and ignition; the company changed to a double-sided, relocated PCB and metal cover for units made after 2011, added a thermal insulation foam service kit for older models, and offers a toll-free hotline: 0800-081-567.

What's being recalled

Condensation formed at the PCB terminal area, resulting in malfunction.

Made in: Chinese Taipei.

The hazard

Condensation at the PCB terminal area, combined with long-term high-temperature arcing, caused PCB carbonization and ignition of the circuit board, leading to an accident. This may cause damage to the product itself, damage to other property, or personal injury.

Injuries: No injury reported

What to do

1. For aforementioned type manufactured after 2011, the PCB was changed to a double-sided board and relocated to the rear side, at the lower right rear of compartment R, to prevent condensation. The PCB cover was also changed to a metal cover to prevent ignition and fire. 2. On July 19, 2012, the Technical Department added a thermal insulation foam service kit for older models to prevent condensation on the PCB. 3. Toll-free customer service hotline: 0800-081-567
