SANA brand manually controlled solar shades with chains, sold in various sizes, colours and fabrics by Sana Designs Inc. in Canada from May 2022 to August 2026 (about 3,000 units), are affected. They were recalled because the supplied tension device does not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations and poses a strangulation hazard if children pull looped cords or become entangled. Consumers should immediately stop using the shades, keep them out of reach of children and contact Sana Designs Inc. (514-334-7533, info@sana-designs.com) for a replacement tension device.

How to identify it

This recall involves SANA brand manually controlled solar shades (with chains). The products were sold in a variety of sizes, colours, and fabrics.

The hazard

Health Canada has determined that the recalled blinds do not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations due to non-compliance of the tension device supplied with the product and pose a strangulation hazard. Young children may pull looped cords around their neck, or become entangled in the cords, causing a strangulation hazard and even death.

Health Canada recommends cordless window coverings. For more information on the hazard, see Window Covering Safety.

As of August 7, 2026, the company has received no reports of incident or injury in Canada.
