Canada2019–2023 Spartan STAR Series medium- and heavy-duty fire trucks (SPARTAN) are affected. The ladder lock handle may not have been assembled properly and could become loose and detach, allowing ladders to fall from the vehicle and create a road hazard or increase the risk of a crash. Spartan Fire will notify owners by mail and advise taking the truck to an authorized service facility to inspect and, if necessary, replace the ladder lock handle.

The hazard
On certain fire trucks, the ladder lock handle may not have been assembled properly. As a result, the handle could become loose and detach from the ladder lock. If this happens, the ladder(s) could fall from the vehicle.
A ladder that falls from a vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Spartan Fire will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to an authorized service facility to inspect and, if necessary, replace the ladder lock handle.
