2023–2024 Volkswagen ID.4 SUVs (VOLKSWAGEN) in Canada are affected. Certain cells inside the high-voltage battery modules may not have been manufactured properly and the battery could overheat, creating a fire risk even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Volkswagen advises setting the maximum charge to 80%, not using level 3 quick charging, parking outdoors away from other vehicles or structures until recall repairs are completed, and will notify owners by mail to take the vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-voltage battery module(s).
