2023–2025 Volkswagen ID.4 SUVs are affected. They were recalled because cells inside the high‑voltage battery module(s) may not have been manufactured properly, which could allow the battery to overheat and create a fire risk; Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to inspect the high‑voltage battery, where the dealer will update the self‑discharge detection (SDD) software and, if necessary, replace high‑voltage battery module(s).
