Certain Volkswagen and Audi SUVs — specifically 2018 Volkswagen TIGUAN, 2018 Volkswagen ATLAS, and 2019–2021 Volkswagen Q3 — are affected; look for these model years and names. One of the bolts that attaches the steering rack to the subframe could corrode and break, which can lead to the steering rack housing breaking and a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash. The company will notify owners by mail and advises taking the vehicle to a dealership to replace the right steering rack mounting bolt.
