2027 Blue Bird VISION school buses with wheelchair tie-down retractors are affected. The retractors may not lock automatically, which could allow a wheelchair to move in a crash and increase the risk of injury; Blue Bird advises confirming the wheelchair is secured by attempting to move it before driving until repairs are completed and will notify owners by mail with instructions or to schedule repairs at a Blue Bird dealership.
How to identify it
2027 Blue Bird VISION SCHOOL BUS
The hazard
On one school bus, the wheelchair tie-down retractors may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the retractor(s) may not lock automatically. If this happens, the wheelchair may not be secured correctly and could move in a crash.
A wheelchair that moves in a crash could increase the risk of injury.
What to do
To reduce the safety risk, Blue Bird recommends you confirm the wheelchair is secured properly by attempting to move it before driving until the recall repairs have been completed. Blue Bird will notify the owner by mail and provide them with instructions for how to inspect and, if necessary, replace the wheelchair retractor(s). Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the repairs performed at a Blue Bird dealership.
