The hazard
On certain trucks, the castle nut securing the tie rod may not have been tightened properly and/or the cotter pin may be missing. As a result, the nut could loosen and separate. If this happens, there could be a loss of steering control.
A loss of steering control could increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility to inspect and, if necessary, replace the tie rod.
