2026 Ford EXPLORER and 2026 Ford AVIATOR SUVs (Ford and Lincoln) are affected; owners can recognise the issue if the windshield defroster/defogger stops working because the HVAC blower motor ground connection may not have been secured properly. A non-working defroster can reduce visibility and increase crash risk. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if needed, secure the ground connection(s).
How to identify it
2026 Ford EXPLORER
2026 Ford AVIATOR
The hazard
On a small number of vehicles, the ground connection for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) blower motor may not have been secured properly. As a result, the defroster could stop working, and you may not be able to defog or defrost the windshield.
A windshield defroster/defogger that doesn't work could cause reduced visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, secure the ground connection(s) in the instrument panel.
