2020–2024 Ford EXPLORER and CORSAIR and other models recall: visual system

Certain 2020–2024 Ford EXPLORER, 2020–2022 Ford CORSAIR, 2020–2024 Ford AVIATOR and 2020–2022 Ford ESCAPE SUVs by Ford and Lincoln are affected; they can be recognised by model and year and by a rearview camera image that may not display properly when the transmission is shifted into reverse. The recall was issued because the software problem can prevent the required rearview image from displaying, reducing a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle and increasing crash risk. Ford will notify owners by mail; corrective actions are under development.

The hazard

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display properly when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing.

A rearview camera image that doesn't display correctly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

What to do

Ford will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.
