2025 Honda CB1000SP motorcycles are affected; owners can identify them by the model name CB1000SP. They were recalled because some engines may not have been manufactured properly, which can cause increased oil consumption and, under certain conditions, engine failure that could lock the rear wheel. Honda will notify owners by mail and advise taking the motorcycle to a dealership for an engine inspection; engines will be replaced if necessary and final corrective actions for other motorcycles are under development.
How to identify it
2025 Honda CB1000SP
The hazard
On certain motorcycles, the engine may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, there could be increased oil consumption. Under certain conditions, this could cause the engine to fail and the rear wheel to lock up while riding.
A rear wheel that locks up suddenly could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect the engine. The engine will be replaced, if necessary. For motorcycles that don't require an engine replacement, the final corrective actions are under development.
