The affected products are the S1 Dry Flush Sealing Toilet and S1 Adapter Kit — a portable waterless dry flush toilet with a motorised mechanism powered by a rechargeable lithium‑ion battery, and an adapter kit that provides the same battery‑powered mechanism for other CompoCloset toilets. They were recalled because the battery management system does not prevent charging at or below 0°C, which can damage batteries that may then overheat, emit smoke or toxic gas, or catch fire. If the battery has been charged at temperatures under 3°C or you are unsure, stop using the toilet or adapter kit, disconnect and remove the battery (contact Compo Closet Ltd for help), and arrange the free replacement battery or 12V bypass cable via the notice form or Compo Closet contact details.
What's being recalled
Portable waterless dry flush toilet designed for campervans, caravans, motorhomes, boats and off-grid cabins. The toilet has a motorised mechanism powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery to seal waste into bags.
The adapter kit provides the same lithium-ion battery powered mechanism for use with other CompoCloset toilets.
The hazard
The battery management system in the lithium-ion batteries in the toilet and adapter kit does not prevent charging when the temperature is at or below 0°C.
The battery can be damaged if charged at temperatures below 0°C. Damaged batteries can overheat, release smoke and toxic gas or catch fire in any weather, even if not being used.
Risk of serious injury, death, and/or property damage if damaged batteries overheat, release smoke and toxic gas or catch fire.
What to do
If the battery has been charged at temperatures under 3°C or if you are unsure:
immediately stop using the affected toilets and adapter kits
disconnect the lithium-ion battery from its power source and remove the battery from the toilet or the adapter kit.
If you need help disconnecting and removing the battery, contact Compo Closet Ltd.
If the battery has not been charged at or will not be exposed to temperatures below 3°C, you can continue to use the affected toilet or adapter kit until you receive a replacement battery.
Check with your local government about requirements for disposal of the affected lithium-ion battery. Do not place the batteries in household rubbish, recycling bins or battery bins at shops.
Compo Closet Ltd will provide a free replacement battery with cold charging protection for all affected consumers, expected to be available in December 2026. Consumers can also request a free bypass cable that will allow the toilet to operate using a 12V vehicle or boat battery.
Complete the Notice Confirmation Form at https://compocloset.ac-page.com/S1-battery-update to arrange for a free replacement battery and/or a 12V bypass cable.
