How to count business days between two dates
Count working days with the right weekends, public holidays and days off, and avoid the classic off-by-one mistake.
Convert hours, minutes and seconds to decimal hours, or turn decimal hours back into clock time.
Your time, clearly
?
Choose your options to begin.
Decimal hours = hours + minutes ÷ 60 + seconds ÷ 3,600. For example, 8 hours 30 minutes equals 8.5 hours, not 8.30. Clock output rounds to the nearest second.
Decimal hours are fractions of an hour, so 8.30 is 8 hours plus 0.3 × 60 = 18 minutes. 8 hours 30 minutes is 8.5.
Multiply them by the hourly rate: 7.75 hours at $20 an hour is $155. Entering 7.45 by mistake for 7 hours 45 minutes would pay $149.
Decimal results show up to six decimal places and clock times are rounded to the nearest second, so 1 hour 20 minutes shows as 1.333333 hours.
Calculate date differences, business days, age, date offsets and work hours with custom workweeks, holiday calendars and CSV exports.
