How to count business days between two dates
Count working days with the right weekends, public holidays and days off, and avoid the classic off-by-one mistake.
Build a timesheet with overnight shifts, unpaid breaks and decimal-hour totals. Export your rows as CSV.
Your time, clearly
?
Choose your options to begin.
For each shift, subtract the unpaid break from elapsed clock time, then apply any chosen rounding. Regular and overtime hours are calculated from the total. Equal start and end times mean zero hours.
Each shift's time after its break is rounded to the nearest quarter hour: 8 hours 7 minutes becomes 8 hours, and 8 hours 8 minutes becomes 8 hours 15 minutes. Use whatever rounding your workplace's policy sets.
Across all the shifts you enter, above the threshold you set (40 hours to start). Some places also count overtime by the day, such as over 8 hours in California or British Columbia, which this calculator doesn't apply, so treat it as an estimate rather than a payroll figure.
Download CSV saves every shift with its break, net minutes and decimal hours, plus the total, ready to open in a spreadsheet.
Calculate date differences, business days, age, date offsets and work hours with custom workweeks, holiday calendars and CSV exports.
