2019 Jaguar I‑PACE SUVs are affected; owners can identify them by the model and year. They were recalled because certain vehicles may have a problem inside the high‑voltage battery that can create smoke or heat, melt or damage the battery and nearby parts, and create a fire risk; on one vehicle, earlier recall repairs may not be effective and a second repair is required. Jaguar will notify owners by mail to take their vehicle to a dealership to repurchase the vehicle, and recommends monitoring the vehicle when charging, unplugging the charging cable once the vehicle reaches 75% charge, and charging and parking the vehicle outside and away from other vehicles or buildings until the recall repairs are completed.

The hazard
On one vehicle, the recall repairs completed by a Jaguar dealer during recall H441 (Transport Canada recall no. 2023-302) may not be effective. As a result, a second repair is required.
On certain vehicles, there could be a problem inside the high-voltage battery. As a result, the battery could create smoke or heat, which can melt or damage the battery and nearby parts.
A battery that overheats can create a fire risk.
What to do
Jaguar will notify the owner by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to repurchase the vehicle. To reduce the safety risk, Jaguar recommends that you monitor your vehicle when charging and unplug the charging cable once your vehicle reaches 75% charge. You should also charge and park your vehicle outside and away from other vehicles or buildings until the recall repairs are completed.
