Motor Coach Industries Bus recall: lights and instruments (Transport Canada 2026478)

How to identify it

2019.0 | MCI | D SERIES, 2024.0 | MCI | D SERIES, 2025.0 | MCI | D SERIES, 2026.0 | MCI | D SERIES

The hazard

On certain transit buses, when the hazard lamps are turned on, a software problem could cause the hazard lamp tell-tale indicators in the dash not to work when the ignition switch is in the "OFF" position.

Hazard lamp tell-tale indicators that don't work could cause the driver to be unaware that the hazard lamps are turned on. This could create confusion for other road users and could increase the risk of a crash.

What to do

Motor Coach Industries (MCI) will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to update the vehicle software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the repair performed at an authorized MCI service center.
