The hazard
Under certain conditions, the mechanisms that lock the second-row seat recliners in position may disengage when a seat belt pretensioner activates. As a result, the seatback(s) could move in a crash.
A seatback that moves could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
What to do
To reduce the safety risk, Toyota advises not using the second-row seats to transport passengers until the recall repairs have been completed. Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the SRS electronic control unit software which controls the pretensioners.
