How to identify it
2026.0 | TOYOTA | RAV4 HYBRID
The hazard
Under certain conditions, a software problem in the motor generator electronic control unit (MG ECU) could cause the plug-in hybrid system to shut down while driving. If this happens, there could be a sudden loss of power to the wheels.
Note: This recall only affects plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.
A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the MG ECU software.
