2024 Toyota TACOMA HYBRID and 2024 Toyota TACOMA light trucks are affected; you can recognise them by the model name and 2024 model year. The recall is because oil reservoirs may not be properly welded to the shock absorbers, and the welds could corrode and fail causing the reservoirs to detach and create a road hazard. Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise taking the truck to a dealership to inspect and replace the affected rear shock absorbers as necessary.

The hazard
On certain trucks, the oil reservoirs may not be properly welded to the shock absorbers. As a result, the welds could corrode and fail and cause the reservoir(s) to detach from the vehicle.
An oil reservoir that detaches from the vehicle could create a hazard for other road users and increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and replace the affected rear shock absorbers, as necessary.
