2024–2025 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid trucks equipped with a panoramic view monitor system are affected; the issue is with the rearview camera image freezing or not displaying when the transmission is shifted into reverse. The recall was issued because a software problem can prevent the required rearview image from displaying, which could reduce the driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash. Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise taking the vehicle to a dealership to update the parking assist electronic control unit software.
How to identify it
2024–2025 Toyota TUNDRA
The hazard
Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image to freeze or not to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing.
Note: This recall affects both Tundra and Tundra hybrid models equipped with a panoramic view monitor system.
A rearview camera image that doesn't display correctly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.
What to do
Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the parking assist electronic control unit software.
