2023–2027 International HV and MV recall: electrical

Certain International-brand medium and heavy trucks — model years 2023–2027 HV and 2027 MV — are recalled for an electrical fault where the cable connection at the battery auxiliary post can contact the battery hold-down bracket, risking a short circuit that could lead to a fire even when the truck is parked and turned off. International Motors recommends parking trucks outside and away from other vehicles or buildings until repairs are completed. Owners will be notified by mail and asked to take their truck to a dealership to insulate the battery hold-down bracket and install spacers between the batteries.

How to identify it

2023–2027 International HV

2027 International MV

The hazard

On certain trucks, the cable connection at the battery auxiliary post could contact the hold-down bracket. If this happens, there could be a short circuit.

Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2025-428. Trucks that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.

A short circuit could increase the risk of a fire, even while the truck is parked and turned off.

What to do

To reduce the safety risk, International Motors recommends that you should park your truck outside and away from other vehicles or buildings until the recall repairs are completed. International Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to insulate the battery hold down bracket and install spacers between the batteries.
