QR Code Labels

Make a QR code for every row of a list, with a caption beside it: asset tags, storage bins, product links or event check-in.

How to make QR code labels in bulk

  1. Paste your list with a column of links, IDs or text for the codes.
  2. Choose what the QR code holds: a column, or a link built around one, like https://example.com/item/{ID}. The rest of the label is the caption.
  3. Pick a sheet, point your phone's camera at a code on screen to test it, then download the PDF.

Good to know

Codes are drawn as sharp vector squares sized to whole printer dots. A code beside the caption suits wide labels; on square or small labels, put it on top or leave the caption empty for a code alone.

Questions

How small can a QR code be?

Each square of the code should be at least 0.25 mm wide for a phone to read it easily; the tool warns you below that. Shorter values make codes with fewer, larger squares, so a short ID fits on a small label where a long link won't.

Which error correction level should I pick?

M (the default) recovers from about 15% damage and suits most labels. Use L to fit a long link on a small label, and Q or H for labels that will get scuffed, at the cost of a denser code.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. They hold your text or link directly, with no redirect service in between, so they work for as long as the link does.

Is my list uploaded?

No. The labels and the PDF are made in your browser, so your list never leaves your computer.

Why don't my labels line up?

Print at Actual size or 100%, not Fit to page. If they're still off, print the alignment test on plain paper, hold it against a label sheet, and move the content with Nudge.
