How to print barcode labels from a list

  1. Paste your list with a column of SKUs, part numbers or other codes.
  2. Choose the column the barcode holds and what the label says above it.
  3. Pick a sheet or a thermal label size, download the PDF and print at 100%. Scan a test print first.

Good to know

Shorter values make wider, easier-to-scan bars: the barcode uses the label's full width. All-digit values are packed two digits to a bar pattern, so a 12-digit number fits where 12 letters wouldn't.

Questions

Which kind of barcode does it make?

Code 128, which handheld scanners and phone apps read. It holds letters, digits and punctuation, and packs runs of digits tightly. It isn't a UPC or EAN: those retail barcodes need numbers your company is assigned by GS1.

Will the barcodes scan?

Bars are sized in whole printer dots and kept at least 0.19 mm wide, with a light margin each side, which suits ordinary laser, inkjet and thermal printers. The tool warns when a value is too long for the label.

Can I make Amazon FBA labels?

Amazon's product labels are the FNSKU it gives each product, printed as a Code 128 barcode with the product's name and condition. Put those columns in your list and check Amazon's current label requirements for sizes before you ship.

Is my list uploaded?

No. The labels and the PDF are made in your browser, so your list never leaves your computer.

Why don't my labels line up?

Print at Actual size or 100%, not Fit to page. If they're still off, print the alignment test on plain paper, hold it against a label sheet, and move the content with Nudge.
